Bedugul Botanic Garden

The Bedugul Botanical Garden, also known as Kebun Raya Bali, is beautifully situated on a hillside within the Bedugul caldera basin. The park features well-maintained paths, scenic water fountains, and a loop road that allows you to explore the forest conveniently by car.

A standout attraction is the enormous banyan tree at the back of the park, with several massive tree stumps that may be centuries old, resembling something out of a fantasy tale.

You’ll discover an impressive collection of exhibits, including giant tree ferns reminiscent of Jurassic Park, a charming bamboo forest, and a dedicated cactus section. Occasionally, visitors might encounter the rare Rafflesia, known as the giant corpse flower!

Many locals frequent the garden for pre-wedding photo shoots, leisurely picnics, relaxing walks, and to enjoy the cooler mountain air, which is considerably refreshing at about 1,500 meters (5,000 feet) above sea level.

On clear days, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking views of Lake Beratan from the park. There’s also a treetop adventure area featuring zip lines and treehouses, albeit we did not partake in that experience.

Overall, you can appreciate most of the highlights in under an hour, making it a worthwhile stop in your travel itinerary.
