ASU Sun Devil Stadium Seating Guide and Info

History of Sun Devil Stadium

Sun Devil Stadium is the home of the Arizona State University football team and is also known as Frank Kush Field. The stadium is named after Frank Kush, the team’s head coach from 1958 to 1979, who had a remarkable record of 176-54-1 and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1995. While Frank Kush Field refers specifically to the playing surface, many fans use it to refer to the venue itself.

The tunnel where players enter the field is named in honor of Pat Tillman, another ASU and College Football Hall of Fame inductee who tragically lost his life while serving in Afghanistan. A life-sized bronze statue of Tillman stands at the entrance of the tunnel.

When it first opened in 1958, Sun Devil Stadium had a seating capacity of approximately 30,000. After several renovations, it can now accommodate over 71,000 fans, making it a prime location for Sun Devil football games. The Carson Student-Athlete Center, located at the south end of the stadium, serves as the hub for all of ASU’s 21 varsity sports coaches.

Seating Information

For those attending games at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, the seating chart provides an overview of available options. The student seating section, known as “The Inferno,” is located in the lower bowl of the south end zone. Fans who prefer to be near ASU’s band should note that musicians sit centrally in the student section.

Notably, improvements in 2018 included enhancements connecting the east and west sides of the stadium, allowing all fans easier access to the main concourse.

Stadium Security Measures

As a result of enhanced security protocols, fans must undergo electronic screening at designated entrances. Please be aware that once your ticket has been scanned, re-entry into the stadium is not permitted. A clear bag policy is also enforced on game days to expedite the entry process; therefore, individuals should familiarize themselves with the clear bag policy, which is quite restrictive. For instance, larger purses or diaper bags are prohibited.

For fans with disabilities, the ADA Courtesy Cart service is available. This service operates from the main disabled parking area and the South Packard Drive parking garage, providing transport to the Southeast, Northeast, and Northwest Gates where security checks occur. Note that this service is restricted to the disabled individual and one companion, along with a service animal.
