Are you eager to enjoy a Broadway show without spending over $100 on tickets? Fortunately, New York City boasts three TKTS Booths where you can purchase same-day Broadway tickets at a fraction of the cost, often as low as half-price. In addition to the savings, your ticket purchase supports the Theatre Development Fund, enabling you to enjoy your Broadway experience with a sense of fulfillment.
One popular method for securing discount tickets to Broadway and Off-Broadway productions is through the TKTS booths. Although waiting in line can be a drawback, often lasting an hour or longer, it presents an opportunity for people-watching or catching up on your reading.
Pro-tip: If a play is your preference, take advantage of the “Play Express” line specifically at the TKTS Booth located in Times Square!
TKTS offers tickets for same-day performances (excluding matinees, which are available a day in advance at the South Street Seaport and Brooklyn locations), typically offering discounts between 20% and 50% off the full price. Please keep in mind that there is a $4.50 per ticket service charge, benefiting the TDF, the non-profit organization that manages the TKTS Booths. A display outside the booth shows which shows are available, and the list changes frequently throughout the day. Consequently, tickets may be available just before shows start at 8 p.m. You can check availability using the TKTS Mobile app, which is compatible with Apple, Android, and Windows phones.
Fast Pass: Planning to see multiple shows during your visit? Simply bring your TKTS ticket stub back to the Times Square booth within seven days to access Window #1 directly, saving you time and effort.
Insider Info: While the TKTS Booth in Times Square is perhaps the most recognized location, additional TKTS Booths operate at South Street Seaport and in Brooklyn. These alternative locations offer distinct advantages over the Times Square booth:
- You can purchase matinee tickets the day before the show.
- Lines generally are shorter due to the locations being less trafficked and farther from Broadway.
- The Brooklyn TKTS location also features tickets for Brooklyn’s performing arts events.
