Adventure Rib Boating in Geirangerfjord, Norway

Situated right by the harbor, I ultimately indulged in that Nordic hotdog I had longed for. (*For reasons unknown, they appear to be significantly more flavorful here.)

Refreshed and nourished (or perhaps more accurately, enhanced with ‘Fanta’), we made our way to retrieve our kayaks along with our instructor before embarking on our exploration of Geirangerfjord.

However, due to earlier winds affecting the conditions, the kayaking session was canceled… In its place, we were offered a rib boat tour, and I must admit, I was filled with excitement.

Overestimating my hunger, I had consumed double the amount of hot dogs I ought to have, which left me with a low energy level and little incentive to engage in physical activity. Moreover, I tend to be somewhat lethargic regarding exercise… 😉

Thus, we embarked on the rib boat tour, reminiscent of the previous experience in Ålesund and the adventure in Nærøyfjord – another UNESCO World Heritage site. However, this particular experience was in Geirangerfjord, undoubtedly the most celebrated of Norway’s fjords!

Before long, we found ourselves racing through the fjords, surrounded by towering mountains and serene waters…

We admired the Seven Sisters cascading gracefully in the distance…

…and recognized The Suitor directly across the fjord.

As legend has it (as per Wikipedia), “the seven sisters (seven waterfalls) joyfully dance down the mountain, while across the fjord, the suitor flirts with them from a distance.”

Our journey continued past numerous bends, getting as close to the waterfalls as possible…

Notably, the most thrilling waterfall is The Suitor, as it allows for proximity that can lead to a delightful soaking. Rest assured, protective full-body suits (including goggles) are provided, ensuring that you can enjoy the experience without concern for getting wet. 🙂

The afternoon was predominantly filled with thrilling speeds, weaving past mountains that remarkably resembled faces…

Ultimately, we returned to Geiranger just in time for a cold beverage under the surprisingly warm Norwegian sun… pure bliss! 🙂
