London is bustling with activity and diversity, offering numerous incredible experiences. However, with so many options, pinpointing a few must-visit venues can be quite challenging, especially when searching for the finest bars London has to offer.
There are countless bars in London. In fact, if you were to visit one bar each evening, it would take nearly nineteen years to explore them all. This astounding endeavor would likely require multiple amendments to your lifestyle.
In light of attempting to visit every single bar, I wish to present some of my preferred establishments that I highly recommend in London. I have shared several selections from various parts of the city, with hopes that at least one or two venues will pique your interest.
From the unconventional and hidden engaging bars in Shoreditch to more luxurious settings, you are bound to find a venue that suits your taste.
Explore a selection of the top bars in London that warrant your attention.
1.) Humble Grape Battersea
Located on Battersea Rise, the Humble Grape stands out as one of the sister locations in London, particularly appealing for wine enthusiasts.
Upon entering, engage with the staff who possess extensive knowledge of wines and can provide excellent recommendations. Rest assured, they also boast an impressive cocktail list for those who prefer alternatives.
Furthermore, visiting on a Sunday afternoon allows you to pair a delightful wine selection with a traditional Sunday Roast. Delightful!
2.) The Coral Room
Nestled within the Bloomsbury Hotel, the Coral Room is a cozy bar that has established a distinguished reputation.
It is an ideal establishment for those seeking a combination of expertly crafted cocktails and live music. While it tends to be pricier than some alternatives, the experience justifies the investment.
It is advisable to reserve a table in advance, especially on weekends, as this venue tends to fill up quickly.
3.) Happiness Forgets
Located in the heart of Hoxton Square, Happiness Forgets offers a unique speakeasy atmosphere. The bar is compact, so it is recommended to secure a reservation prior to your visit.
That being said, they do reserve half the tables for walk-in customers each evening, allowing for last-minute opportunities in Shoreditch.
Operating hours are from 5 pm until 11 pm nightly, making it an ideal venue for casual relaxation. Additionally, their cocktails are particularly impressive.
4.) Opium Cocktail And Dimsum Parlour
Located discreetly in China Town, Opium Cocktail and Dimsum Parlour represents a hidden treasure among London’s bar scene. Accessible through a modest entrance, Opium spans three levels, featuring some of the most exquisite cocktails available in the city.
We made a stop at each of the three bars and found them fantastic. Be sure to sample their mezcal cocktails, as they are exceptional.
Reservations are strongly recommended, as the bar is relatively small and tends to fill up quickly during the evenings.
5.) Beaufort Bar
Another notable hotel bar, the Beaufort Bar is located within the Savoy Hotel. Each evening features live music, accompanied by an exceptional cocktail menu.
Additionally, they offer a diverse selection of gin and Scotch whisky for those interested.
6.) Mr Fogg’s Gin Parlour
Located in Covent Garden, Mr Fogg’s Gin Parlour ranks among the premier bars in London for gin enthusiasts. Upon arrival, one will encounter an extensive gin menu featuring exotic flavors, from rhubarb to ginger and beyond.
It is advisable to try something out of the ordinary.
As with many of the premier bars in London, ensure you secure a reservation to avoid potential wait times, as it can become quite crowded.
7.) Scarlett Green
Located on Noel Street, Scarlett Green caters to various preferences with its extensive drink menu. It also features a delectable brunch selection.
While enjoying a relaxed atmosphere, sample their remarkable cocktails, which are truly outstanding. This venue presents a perfect option for a leisurely Saturday afternoon in central London. For me, it presents a more laid-back option while still being one of the top bars to visit in London.
8.) Ninetyeight Bar & Lounge
Ninetyeight Bar is undoubtedly one of the quirkiest and most distinctive bars in all of London. With a whimsical decor, it is a venue where time flies unobserved.
When visiting, do not forget to try their ‘Electric Sun’ cocktail, as it is incredibly delightful and served intriguingly like a potion.
9.) Lady Abercorn’s Pub & Kitchen
For a more traditional, yet unique pub experience, consider visiting Lady Abercorn’s Pub & Kitchen. Situated near Liverpool Street, it evokes a nostalgic Victorian ambiance.
When visiting, make sure to enjoy a pint or indulge in one of their exceptional gin cocktails.
10.) The Dead Dolls House
Situated on Upper Street, the Dead Dolls House may sound unconventional but offers an impressive experience.
If you’re feeling hungry, you can certainly grab a meal, but it is the cocktails that truly shine here. Upon your arrival, check out the menu and select your preferred drink.
Popular choices include the ‘English Garden’ and ‘Mexico Fizz’ cocktails, each differing in flavor profile (and potency), so consume with caution!
