A stay in Tuscany would be incomplete without a visit to my preferred Italian city – Florence, and regardless of the grey clouds and rainfall earlier that day, we embarked on our journey, leaving our Tuscan farmhouse behind to explore Florence.
My previous experiences in Florence have been numerous, and while each visit has presented its own unique atmosphere, one common thread remained—sunshine, making it ideal gelato weather. Thus, I was slightly apprehensive regarding the visit, given the looming grey clouds and imminent rain (admittedly, it seems trivial, but my concern was to maintain my affection for Florence despite adverse weather).
Fortunately, my concerns were unfounded. Florence proved to be as stunning and enchanting as I remembered, regardless of the weather. We commenced our exploration at Piazzale Michelangelo, which boasts breathtaking panoramic views of the city.
The scenic vistas never cease to impress!
Continuing our journey, we proceeded to San Miniato al Monte, another splendid location offering remarkable views over the city, accompanied by one of Florence’s most beautiful basilicas.
After enjoying the scenic overview, we resumed our exploration and ventured toward the city center, driven by our desire to savor exquisite gelato and authentic pizza.
While journeying, we made a brief stop at the Ponte Vecchio bridge.
The formidable Florentine steaks we encountered were substantial in size (I must confess, the arrival of wine momentarily distracted me from capturing the moment with my camera) and were challenging to finish, especially after indulging in so much pizza and ice cream. However, one must keep an open mind when in Florence… 😉
