Summary
Following an exhilarating experience paragliding from France to Switzerland, we resolved to spend the remainder of our day relaxing in Geneva. Consequently, we proceeded to the lake, where we engaged in one of the most enjoyable and laid-back activities available in the city.
At the lakeside, one can discover a beach club named Tropical Corner, which presents an excellent venue for refreshing drinks, basking in the sun, enjoying some light bites, and observing the majestic sunset over the city.
Still invigorated from our earlier exploits, we opted to rent paddleboards and take to the tranquil waters of Lake Geneva.
Fortunately, despite some rain earlier in the day, the weather transformed into a stunningly sunny backdrop, making the lakeside the perfect retreat.
Typically, when paddleboarding, I prefer to avoid falling into the water, driven perhaps by a sense of pride; however, the refreshing water in Lake Geneva was too inviting to resist. After a while of relaxing with the cool waves splashing at my feet, I could not resist the urge to dive in—it was nothing short of amazing.
We swiftly paddled back to shore and enjoyed some refreshing beers while selecting the ideal location to admire the breathtaking sunset over the lake.
Dinner that evening featured something that Lloyd had eagerly anticipated long before our arrival—Fondue. We selected a restaurant not far from our hotel and indulged in molten cheese! Our paddleboarding session had certainly built up quite an appetite, and we thoroughly relished it! We left no cheese behind when we finished our meal.
Rich chocolate fondant and crème brûlée quickly followed the fondue; thus, we soon decided it was time to conclude our day.
Geneva has far exceeded my initial expectations. I anticipated chocolate, upscale boutiques, and a variety of souvenirs; however, it has provided me with engaging adventures and beautiful natural surroundings.
On the following day, we adopted a more leisurely pace. The rain from the previous day returned with greater intensity, leading us to abandon our morning plans—which was perfectly acceptable, as sometimes, embracing a more relaxed atmosphere while traveling is refreshing.
Ultimately, we headed over to Birdie Food & Coffee for brunch and to recharge with some caffeine before exploring more of Geneva.
We subsequently wandered towards the University, a stunning area filled with remarkable architecture.
As we continued our exploration of Geneva, we found ourselves in the vicinity of État de Genève – Chancellerie d’État.
It was quite a remarkable architectural site in the city that serves the public in various capacities.
This destination serves as a reminder of the benefits of exploring and embracing spontaneity within a new city.
After meandering through the older section of Geneva for a while, we decided it was time to properly delve into this area, as we were already nearby and might as well make the most of it!
