After an extensive journey from London, we arrived in Bali after nightfall. Once we departed the airport and reached our villa in Ubud, it was well past midnight!
One would presume that we would head directly to rest upon arrival; however, equipped with beverages acquired during our transit (having persuaded our driver to stop at a convenience store along the route to Ubud), we spent hours enjoying our infinity pool while overlooking the jungle.
Before further elaboration, it is pertinent to provide context. The “We” refers to myself, Lloyd, and our companions, Georgia and Chris (you will encounter more about them in future posts regarding Bali).
Well-fed, well-rested, and basking in the afterglow of indulgent massages, we finally ventured out to discover Ubud. Our villa was conveniently positioned in Ubud but not overly central, allowing for a tranquil experience while being merely a 10-minute stroll from the Royal Palace, thereby enjoying the best of both worlds—serenity while residing yet easy access to various dining, cultural sites, shopping, bars, and all that Ubud offers.
We visited Pura Gunung Lebah, a temple situated amidst the jungle, on our way to the Campuhan Ridge Walk.
The Campuhan Ridge Walk is visible from our villa, and vice versa, which piqued our curiosity and prompted our visit.
The ridge walk provides a scenic view overlooking the jungle and rice fields, complete with a small swing, which we eagerly took turns using (albeit with some trepidation, as the tree on which the swing is anchored tends to move considerably while in motion).
Considering the numerous attractions throughout Bali, the Campuhan Ridge Walk is not necessarily essential; however, it is certainly a worthwhile visit if you find yourself with some leisure time while in Ubud.
It was indeed the perfect leisurely day in Bali and an excellent commencement to what would be an extraordinary experience on this enchanting island! 🙂
