Upon departing from the stunning Schleissheim Palace (after our evening meal), our itinerary took us to Klostergasthof Raitenhaslach – the most ancient Cistercian monastery in Upper Bavaria, not designated specifically for tourism purposes, but rather our accommodation for the evening in Bavaria.
(*In Germany and Austria, numerous historic monasteries have been repurposed into hotel accommodations, B&Bs, and restaurants.)
Given our late arrival, we promptly checked in and made our way to bed, greeted by the local wildlife—wild bunnies 🐇 who appeared startled by our presence upon arrival… 😁.
After enjoying breakfast, filled with anticipation to view more of Bavaria’s stunning castles and palaces, we opted to conduct a brief exploration of the monastery before departing. This region of Germany, renowned for its remarkable palaces and castles, greatly influenced our trip’s planning.
After our meal, we promptly set out for Burghausen Castle – recognized as the longest castle globally!
Before partaking in additional explorations, we felt compelled to witness the castle itself in all its glory, confirming its status as the longest castle in the world!
Our exploration of the castle revealed an extraordinary architectural masterpiece that stretches impressively 1,051 meters. With its intricate design, it embodies the history and craftsmanship of the time.
…
Our exit from the captivating castle led us back to the town, capturing one last moment amidst its charm before we set forth to discover one of Germany’s most enchanting hidden gems.
