Florence is an extraordinary city to experience! Even elements that may appear somewhat unusual in other cities around the globe are transformed into exceptional beauty in Florence. The city exudes remarkable Tuscan charm, making it evident that the most effective way to appreciate it is from a high viewpoint.
As I venture further, I increasingly acknowledge how seemingly trivial elements, such as companion dynamics, accommodations, the culinary experiences, and other routine aspects greatly inform the memories created during travels. One is far more inclined to develop affection for a destination when comfortable and savoring delightful cuisine, compared to potentially feeling disgruntled while damp and famished. Consequently, indulging oneself at times during a trip can be significantly rewarding.
Allow me to introduce you to a remarkable location with a stunning view in Florence, known as the Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni n. 1. The photographs will speak for themselves, showcasing why this place is the premier spot to be while visiting Florence. Nevertheless, for further persuasion, here are several compelling reasons why this should be your viewing destination in Florence!
1.) In terms of convenience, this hotel is situated adjacent to Ponte Vecchio – the legendary bridge in Florence, and is just a five-minute walk from the main attractions, including the Cathedral!
2.) The optimal views can be obtained from one of the two rooftop areas (one on each side, allowing for a complete 360-degree perspective of Florence). Notably, ascending here incurs no cost. You have the option to enjoy a drink (which is reasonably priced—hence Lloyd and I tended to overindulge on Prosecco each evening), or you may simply go up with your camera and find a comfortable spot on one of the many lounge sofas available.
3.) The vista from the balconies during breakfast is exquisite too! (The food is exceptional; be sure to try the fresh pastries if you stay here—they are delightfully delicious!)
4.) Complimentary snacks are available, including fresh fruits, cakes, biscuits, and various nibbles to enjoy while you ascend to the rooftop area.
5.) While the view from Piazzale Michelangelo is breathtaking, it involves a strenuous hike uphill, coupled with a gathering of tourists who might have the same splendid idea. This can become burdensome, especially when a magnificent view is readily accessible from your hotel with considerably less effort. (Of course, I still advocate for visiting Piazzale Michelangelo to experience the sights, but the finest view is arguably from the Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni n. 1, where relaxation is the key.)
6.) The hotel is situated on one of the most upscale streets in Florence (there’s literally a Dior store on the ground level, followed by several other luxury boutiques). Therefore, for those interested in luxury shopping (or even high-end window-shopping), this is an ideal location.
7.) Let me not forget the accommodations! They are splendid! The beds are comfortable, and many rooms offer captivating views! My personal view overlooked the Duomo—you could even see the Cathedral while cozily nestled in bed! (Cwtch is a Welsh term that conveys the idea of cuddling/snuggling, allowing for expressions like “I’m cwtched up in bed” or “Give me a little cwtch” 😉 )
OTHER PLACES YOU CAN GET A GREAT VIEW OF FLORENCE
Even though I assure you, after experiencing the rooftops of the Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni n. 1, you may wish to rush back to the hotel to relish the views from the following locations:
- Piazzale Michelangelo (it involves a considerable hike, so ensure to wear comfortable walking shoes).
I hope this description illustrates why this hotel is truly remarkable through just the photographs. 😉
