The Norangsdalen valley is undeniably one of the most captivating locations in Norway!
It is a destination that appears and feels unique, distinct from any other location you may have visited.
With pristine lakes, soaring snow-capped mountains, and roads that beckon you towards further breathtaking vistas.
Since we had several hours available before dinner, we departed from the Hotel Union Øye, navigating through the valley, making our initial stop at the aforementioned lake—the one that was once a village before it was submerged.
The lake, referred to as Lyngstøyvatnet, retains the remnants of the submerged village beneath its surface. This site is especially appealing for divers and snorkelers, although individuals can appreciate the history without getting wet (further details will follow).
A brief drive through the valley prompted us, on multiple occasions, to continue driving for just a few more minutes… and so we did.
Consequently, it did not assist that intermittently, one of us would declare a distracted “Wow!” or abruptly request to “Stop the car!” (depending on the driver)—the opportunities for photographs were virtually limitless.
Even ordinary views, such as these structures (which I suspect may cater more to agricultural than residential purposes), stand out as remarkable.
In essence, rather than merely listening to my enthusiastic commentary—let me present the visuals…
The day culminated with various activities, which included enjoying local brews while observing the serene surroundings, accompanied by the natural sounds of the environment.
There truly is no itinerary more satisfying than one that is entirely spontaneous! 😉
