Upon arriving at the hotel after an early morning flight, what’s the first action you take?
Fuel up! Upon reaching Porto, this is precisely what we did, aligning our priorities accordingly.
After wandering for some time, we ultimately discovered this restaurant along the waterfront and decided it was appropriate to indulge in a meal.
While I could mention that the menu appeared enticing (which it did) or that the ambiance was delightful (indeed it was) or that the view was stunning (which it was), I must confess the primary attraction of the restaurant was the exceptional prices of the wine.
It seems wine is quite affordable in Porto, which is somewhat expected; however, this was the first establishment where we encountered displayed prices without needing to sift excessively through the menu, so we seized the opportunity and comfortably settled in!
We both ordered lobster-based dishes; I opted for a lobster pasta dish—despite my preferences against the combination, I typically enjoy lobster paired with various other culinary options. This, unfortunately, wasn’t to my liking.
Nevertheless, the meal was still flavorsome, and the appetizers, quality red wine, and dessert significantly compensated for any disappointment.
After our meal, we proceeded to ascend to the higher areas of the city to obtain a comprehensive view of Porto.
Porto is an incredible tapestry of colors and architecture, each with distinctive traits, and I quickly adapted to this holiday, developing a fondness for the city—perhaps it was the wine contributing to this affection; I certainly wouldn’t be the first individual to yield to the allure of wine.
This being my inaugural visit to Portugal, I was quite pleased with how effortlessly I acclimated, leading to an easy decision for a subsequent visit to Portugal, specifically to Lisbon!
