Summary of Exploring Valencia, Spain
Valencia has been a destination of interest for numerous years.
After awakening from a restful slumber akin to that of a fairy tale character, Yaya and I embarked on our inaugural adventure of the day.
Navigating a yacht along the Mediterranean shoreline was an exhilarating experience.
One can only imagine the thrill I felt at the prospect of sailing our very own yacht! Of course, we did not retain the yacht; however, I was bubbling with enthusiasm like a playful puppy eager to embark.
On a sunny winter day, one learns to savor such moments, especially when hailing from London!
Indeed, it appears that we Brits carry an appreciation for sunshine irrespective of the temperature! 😉
Following a comprehensive safety briefing—“do not collide the vessel with rocks,” “maintain a distance from the shoreline,” etc.—we ventured into the Mediterranean waters. I embraced my newfound role as captain, repeatedly asserting “Aye aye” and, in my mind, becoming a legitimate mariner (or at least that is how I perceive it!).
You will be glad to hear that I did not graze, scratch, or otherwise impair the yacht during our excursion.
Although, I suspect Yaya anticipated otherwise!
Subsequently, after our sailing experience, we proceeded directly to one of Spain’s preeminent architectural landmarks, rivaling the beauty of Gaudí’s masterpieces in Barcelona, the City of Arts and Sciences.
Experiencing these structures up close is quite a surreal encounter; they resemble enormous peaks ensconced within a meringue nest (yes, I confess that architectural designs often remind me of culinary delights).
After thoroughly exploring the grounds, we concluded it was time to delve inside and admire the exquisite designs curated by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela.
One particularly noteworthy structure is the L’Àgora—a vast covered plaza—and the L’Hemisféric, both presenting a striking visual experience.
It is advisable to consider visiting the L’Hemisféric at dusk when the interplay of shadows from the sunset against the illuminated edifice crafts an unforgettable panorama, unlike any other architectural experience.
I will share additional images below to illustrate my point! It is genuinely a breathtaking and utterly distinctive location.
We cherished every moment spent in the city and eagerly anticipate our next visit.
