The Canary Islands, situated off the north-west coast of Africa, are a captivating travel destination. These Spanish islands, including Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote, are renowned for their stunning natural beauty and diverse landscapes.
Initially, I did not consider the Canary Islands to be a priority. My childhood visit left a fond impression, yet it faded from my travel aspirations until I recently discovered its vibrant offerings.
This magnificent archipelago is remarkably diverse, featuring enchanting hills, volcanic terrains, lovely towns, delectable Spanish cuisine, and tranquil beaches that invite relaxation.

La Gomera Island
1.) Roque Agando
One of the most impressive natural formations in the Canary Islands, Roque Agando is a must-visit while in La Gomera. Early morning hikes along designated paths provide optimal views, as the site is significant to the Berber ancestors of the islands.
2.) Hermigua
Hermigua enchants visitors with its lush ravines and charming villages, complemented by the stunning twin peaks, Roques de San Pedro. After an exploration, the neighboring beach offers a refreshing swim—be cautious of strong tides.
3.) El Monumento Natural de Los Roques
This striking landscape is easily accessible via the main road (TF-713) from San Sebastian, showcasing remarkable canyons and untouched beauty. Listen for Silbo Gomero, a unique whistled language once used by the island’s inhabitants.
4.) Sail around La Gomera
Sailing tours from San Sebastian offer an extraordinary way to enjoy the island from the sea, with options like Canary Sail or Oceano Whale Watching available at Valle Gran Rey.
El Hierro Island

On El Hierro, the picturesque bathing pools of Charco Azul offer a unique spot to unwind amidst volcanic formations and clear turquoise waters.

This viewpoint offers one of the best vistas on the island, especially at sunset when you can enjoy the stunning transition from day to night at an affordable eatery nearby.

Gran Canaria Island

Lobos Island is just a short catamaran ride of approximately 20 minutes from Fuerteventura.
