‘Pretty in Pink’: Where are they now?

Potts went on to a seven-year stint as Mary-Jo on “Designing Women.” She’s currently starring as Helen on NBC medical drama “Chicago Med.”
The 1986 John Hughes film “Pretty in Pink” starred Molly Ringwald as Andie Walsh, a creative teenager from the wrong side of the tracks. Ringwald landed the role after major parts in two other ’80s classics: “Sixteen Candles” and “The Breakfast Club.”
Ringwald has continued to act in the intervening decades, with leading roles in “Betsy’s Wedding” and the TV adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Stand.” In 2013, Ringwald released a jazz record titled “Except Sometimes” and a book, “When It Happens to You.” She appeared in the 2015 movie “Jem and the Holograms.”
Jon Cryer makes the most of the film’s exuberant character, Duckie. Relegated to the friend zone, Duckie remains ardent in his devotion to Ringwald’s Andie.
Cryer finished up a 12-year stint in 2015 as Alan Harper on CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men.” Cryer earned two Emmy awards for the role and has also appeared in a number of television series and films, with a notable role as Jim “Wash Out” Pfaffenbach in the “Top Gun” parody “Hot Shots!” (1991).
Andrew McCarthy’s preppy, BMW-driving Blane is the focus of Andie’s affections in “Pretty in Pink.” Their difference in circumstance is a complication in the high school hierarchy.
McCarthy has continued to act in addition to becoming a noted travel writer. He’s the author of “The Longest Way Home: One Man’s Quest for the Courage to Settle Down” and “Journeys Home.” McCarthy has taken on a new role as Hank Asher in “The Family,” an ABC drama premiering in March.
Steff, the guy you love to hate, is played with sleazy swagger by James Spader.
Spader is currently starring as criminal mastermind “Red” Reddington in NBC’s “The Blacklist.” Spader won three primetime Emmys for his role as Alan Shore in “The Practice” and its spin-off, “Boston Legal.”
Harry Dean Stanton plays Andie’s warm-hearted, down-on-his-luck father, Jack.
In a career spanning more than 60 years, Stanton, now 89, has appeared in films such as “Cool Hand Luke,” “Alien,” “The Last Temptation of Christ” and “Paris, Texas.” In 2006, he began a recurring role on the HBO series “Big Love.” He’s the subject of a 2013 documentary “Harry Dean Stanton, Partly Fiction.”
Andie’s free-spirited confidante Iona, played by Annie Potts, takes ’80s fashion — and hair — to dizzying heights.
