14 Of The Best Things To Do In Singapore (11)

We have exciting news: GoTravelDaily has launched in Singapore!

Over the coming months, we are thrilled to explore this vibrant city; there are numerous sights, activities, and culinary delights that await!

I aim to provide a comprehensive post shortly; however, the challenges of jet lag and academic commitments from my studies at Cambridge University have limited my time.

Nevertheless, I wanted to share my initial impressions, as even brief insights are better than none!

Our first recommendation was to visit Clarke Quay, renowned for its multitude of dining options. Subsequently, we were advised to experience the culinary offerings of Chinatown, making both locations our initial stops.

The views from Clarke Quay are truly striking, creating an ideal atmosphere for a night out with friends and family. Conversely, Chinatown boasts a variety of delightful eateries along with numerous souvenir shops. A return visit will be necessary to delve deeper into both locations.

Additional Observations

  • There are plentiful dining options offering remarkably affordable meals! However, alcoholic beverages tend to be on the pricier side. Nevertheless, after residing in London, the prices feel somewhat reasonable.
  • 7-Eleven stores are ubiquitous, leading to frequent temptations for slushies, especially with peer encouragement. I am still recovering from my last sugar rush!
  • The MRT system is impressively efficient, as well as exceptionally clean and well-lit. To quote Cam Brady, “I seductively approve!”
  • Public Wi-Fi is readily available in many locations across the city, including the airport and various streets in Chinatown, highlighting Singapore’s commitment to accessibility.
  • The shopping malls offer a combination of well-known brands and local stalls, enabling a diverse shopping experience for both name-brand items and everyday essentials like flip flops.
  • Importantly, the climate in Singapore is consistently hot and humid, so visitors should refrain from packing warm clothing. Lighter clothing is highly advisable, as temperatures hover around 30°C.
  • It’s essential to carry your passport when purchasing a mobile phone, whether opting for a pre-paid or contract plan.
  • Now, let’s move on to the photos that capture these wonderful experiences!
