Summary
Recently, I noted that the Nordic countries were scarcely represented in our content, prompting a swift need for correction. Consequently, I composed an extensive article detailing the Nordic nations, ultimately resulting in a series of posts categorized into three distinct parts. Each segment has been structured based on the neighboring countries up north. Thus, we commence our Nordic Expeditions with an exploration of Helsinki!
Our journey commenced with a flight into Tampere, Finland, where we primarily aimed to visit friends, Pekka and Elisa. Following our stay, we planned a short trip to Helsinki for exploration.
The train services in Finland offer an exceptionally comfortable experience; we were fortunate to have private compartments during our travels.
A fun fact about the attire depicted above: Lloyd designed the shirt I am wearing. It originated from an impulse project sparked by an abundance of pens and a basic white t-shirt. Although my artistic abilities are limited, I was quite pleased with the outcome!
After a few hours on the train, alongside some wine and beer, we arrived in Helsinki, eager to promptly set out and discover the city.
Helsinki’s compact structure facilitates exploration on foot, enhancing its unique charm.
We returned to our accommodation to rest and refresh before venturing out into the nightlife.
Warmly dressed, we made sure to seize the moment for a selfie, and set forth to enjoy our evening. The remainder of the night was captured via somewhat blurry iPhone photos, which I will skip over.
The following day, we enjoyed breakfast before embarking on further exploration of Helsinki.
Disclaimer: The cracked glass is not representative of Helsinki…
Lloyd, having forgotten his hat, ingeniously transformed his snood—though actually mine—into a makeshift hat!
And thus, we said our farewells after a whirlwind 24 hours spent in Helsinki!
