An iconic landmark indelibly associated with the City by the Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge stretches 1.7 miles across the Golden Gate Strait, connecting San Francisco to Marin County. Whether shrouded in fog or standing tall on a crystal-clear day, this 1930s-era art deco marvel remains one of the country’s can’t-miss sights. Moreover, the best perspective is from the Marin Headlands, with the city skyline as a stunning backdrop. The Overseas Highway spans 113 miles from Miami to the Florida Keys, weaving between the azure waters of the North Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico. While some sections are less remarkable, the views from the famous Seven Mile Bridge are nothing short of breathtaking, particularly if riding shotgun or cycling, jogging, or strolling along the old bridge, which runs parallel to the modern bridge.

It’s nearly impossible to hear “Rocky Mountains” without humming a little John Denver. When you set eyes on the peaks that inspired this tune, it’s not hard to see why they provoked such admiration. A vast collection of individual ranges spans about 3,000 miles from Canada to New Mexico. Although they are well-represented in states like Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah, Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park is perhaps the best-known place to appreciate their beauty.

Additionally, with over 300 glaciers and more than 125 alpine lakes, this “mountainous ecosystem” boasts some of the most pristine landscapes in the Pacific Northwest.

This breathtaking area features fjords, forests, glaciers, mountains, and a rich marine environment that supports diverse wildlife. In the national park, which spans 3.3 million acres, black and brown bears roam the shore, harbor seals bask on floating ice, and humpback whales arrive seasonally to feed. Exploring by boat allows you to take in all of this natural beauty.

Open 24 hours a day year-round, the rocks glisten at sunrise, so early visits are highly recommended for the best experience.
