Volkswagen’s Versatile New Van: Your Compact Campsite on Wheels

Discover the Volkswagen Caddy California: A Compact Adventure Van

Volkswagen is a name that has become synonymous with road travel, whether it’s the colorful vintage VW campers that have inspired wanderlust throughout the decades or larger custom builds that facilitate more rugged outdoor adventuring. The new iteration of their popular Caddy van presents an intriguing opportunity for travelers seeking a compact option that doesn’t compromise on features.

Innovative Design for Everyday Use

A completely redesigned model in the fifth generation of the Caddy range, the new Caddy California boasts adjustable living spaces that include areas for sleeping and storage. It is aimed at being functional, whether for daily commutes or longer getaways. Notably, the van features a panoramic sunroof and increased storage capacity, along with a miniature kitchen that has a compact gas cooker concealed in the rear, designed to pull out to a standing height. Moreover, a free-standing modular tent can be connected to the van, transforming it into a portable campsite spacious enough for a family of four.

Flexible Living Spaces

Due to launch before the end of the year, the Caddy California is designed as a crossover between a compact van and a camper. It features a fold-out bed with springs and a mattress, which, when folded, reduces to a third of its length and fits perfectly into the boot space. Additionally, the second-row seating can be entirely removed before a trip, creating ample space for both storage and sleeping accommodations.

Enhanced Camping Features

A companion app is available to assist with road trips, providing essential information on campsites as well as water and waste disposal points. Furthermore, camper-friendly features include a dimmable LED lighting system, integrated fly screens, and camping furniture that can conveniently be stored beneath the bed. Additionally, enthusiasts of stargazing can configure the Caddy California with a large panoramic sunroof that offers breathtaking views. For added privacy, there is a curtain system that can be deployed when needed.

Compact Kitchen Facilities

The optional miniature kitchen is accessed via a hatch and features a wind shield along with a shelf. The bottom pull-out section includes a cutlery tray and additional storage space for utensils and provisions, while the rear part of the kitchen houses a locked box with a vent for accommodating a gas tank.
