Many of us dream about moving away to foreign lands. Therefore, a recently-published report – the Global Expat Index 2019 – outlining the best countries in the world to live abroad may prove to be helpful.
Globehunters conducted an analysis to find the best places in the world to move to in 2019. They considered various factors, including careers, cost of living, quality of life, and lifestyle. The analysis ranked 34 OECD countries, and Iceland emerged as the top choice, which probably comes as no surprise as it frequently appears at the top of many people’s bucket lists.
Iceland ranked first in terms of safety and migrant acceptance, providing reassurance for anyone planning to live there. The rest of the top ten countries for expats include:
- Austria
- Canada
- New Zealand
- Germany
- Sweden
- United States
- Australia
- The Netherlands
- Norway
Moreover, Mexico leads in employment rates, cost of living, and child care expenses, making it an attractive option for future expats. Finland, famed for its exceptional quality of life, topped the chart for happiness—an essential criterion no matter where one resides. If longevity is a priority, Japan was recognized for its high life expectancy. Furthermore, Switzerland stands out for its impressive average income, promising financial well-being.
Iceland’s overall appeal likely connects to its stunning natural displays and dramatic landscapes. The Northern Lights illuminate the sky, while geysers erupt, ice-covered volcanoes roar, and glaciers carve through the mountains. It is a haven for dreamers, authors, artists, and musicians, all inspired by their magnificent surroundings. Live music, visual art, handicrafts, and local cuisine are thriving, supported by the warm-hearted and industrious nature of the Icelandic people.
