One place that I was eager to visit during my trip was Bhaktapur. This UNESCO World Heritage site has been a topic of much conversation since our arrival, making it clear that it needed to be added to our itinerary without delay.
After departing from the historic town of Panauti, we made a beeline for Bhaktapur, strategically located approximately halfway between Kathmandu and Panauti.

Although Bhaktapur retains some funding due to its UNESCO status, the restoration efforts are still insufficient, as most of the damage occurred two years prior. If you are interested in supporting Nepal’s recovery, consider donations via the official UNESCO website.
Despite the challenges faced, a trip to Bhaktapur remains worthwhile. The majestic architecture still captivates, and the remaining historical sights are nothing short of impressive.

When in Bhaktapur, a visit to Durbar Square, known for its majestic palaces and temples, is essential. The area encapsulates the essence of the city’s architectural beauty.
Exploring Nyatapola Temple
Next, we ventured to Nyatapola Temple, a remarkable structure that has withstood the test of time for over 300 years, surviving multiple earthquakes. The temple exemplifies the remarkable architecture of the region.
Overall, my journey through Bhaktapur was not just an exploration of history but reflected the enduring spirit of its people and the grandeur of its architecture, making it a key component of any Nepal itinerary.
