Summary
The next day in Fort Lauderdale, we started the day with a breakfast of champions at the Pelican Grand Beach.
I decided to go for steak and eggs instead of pancakes, something that has become a favorite since my visits to the US.
After breakfast, we hit the beach. It’s truly a must-do when visiting Florida, enjoying the sunshine and splashing around in the warm blue waters.
Later that afternoon, we ventured into the Everglades, specifically to Sawgrass Recreation Park, with the intention of spotting alligators.
As a bonus, my visit to Sawgrass Recreation Park gave me the chance to taste alligator meat for the first time! It was a delicious experience.
During another visit to the Everglades, we joined a group tour and spotted two alligators. However, on our most recent trip, we had a private tour with the wonderfully named Gator Tim, which was a fantastic experience.
Gator Tim shared his extensive knowledge about the local wildlife and soon we spotted our first alligator!
Unfortunately, the first alligator quickly left the scene, but it was an exhilarating moment. We continued exploring and marveled at the wildlife.
We drove further through the Everglades, with many fascinating facts shared by Gator Tim, learning about alligators’ behaviors and survival instincts. Alligators are known to be cautious creatures, due to their natural predatory threats.
Finally, we wrapped up our Everglades adventure and headed to dinner at Monkitail, known for its delicious offerings.
This vibrant establishment boasts a fantastic tasting menu, showcasing the region’s seafood and culinary creativity. We kicked off the night with mandatory cocktails and enjoyed an array of dishes, from sushi to mouth-watering desserts.
By the end of the dinner, we were full and satisfied, reflecting on an extraordinarily eventful day filled with culinary delights and wildlife adventures.
Food like this is truly how every great evening in Florida should end (or perhaps even begin!).
