Quick Summary
The challenge: You’re breezing through New York for one night and need to catch a flight to London the very next day. Can you see all the major sights and get a good feel for New York in the next 24 hours?
This scenario is a challenge we faced during our travels. Having spent a relaxed time in Canada and on the West Coast of the U.S., we had to make every minute in New York count! Here’s how the day unfolded.
Base Camp: The Andaz Hotel
Our stay was at The Andaz on Wall Street, an amazing hotel that has become our go-to accommodation in New York due to its fantastic location, beautiful decor, complimentary wine and snacks reception in the evenings, and free minibar. It was consistently an easy choice for us!
Exploring the Neighborhood
We began our adventure by strolling down Wall Street, taking in iconic sights like the NYSE.
Visiting the Statue of Liberty
Next, we hopped on a boat to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. However, before our boat ride, we stopped for a large cup of coffee to combat fatigue from the red-eye flight!
New York Public Library
After refueling, we hopped into a taxi to the New York Public Library for a deeper exploration of this iconic site.
The Vibrant Times Square
From the library, we made our way to Times Square, where we indulged in some gawking at the massive digital screens and took plenty of photos.
Grabbing another cup of coffee, we felt the repercussions of not sleeping on the flight setting in!
Soaking in Central Park
We continued our journey with a brief visit to Madison Square Garden Park, where I actually dozed off for a short minute at Dunkin Donuts. This quick nap was quite refreshing!
Final Thoughts
Our whirlwind 24 hours in New York City allowed us to explore a plethora of iconic landmarks, indulge in delightful coffee stops, and immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture. Although brief, this adventure was packed with unforgettable experiences!
