The journey commenced from Fukuoka where, upon arrival at Hakata station, guests are treated to a warm welcome, with bags whisked away and a selection of delightful refreshments offered.
(Note: Sparkling sake in the morning sets a festive tone, but tea, juices, and coffees are also available.)
Boarding the Train
As soon as we boarded the train, I felt an immediate connection to this luxurious space that would be our home for the next few days.
Culinary Experience
Starting the journey at the bar with a refreshing iced green tea, we were soon treated to an exquisite multi-course lunch, prepared by the Executive Head Chef. The meal featured local ingredients sourced from the beautiful island.
We indulged in a variety of appetizers such as Yobuko squid, tiger prawns, and wine-fed kuroge wagyu beef, which were nothing short of incredible!
Exploring Arita
Our first stop was Arita, a picturesque town in the Saga prefecture, famous for its porcelain. The craftsmanship and artistry involved in creating the beautiful pieces are remarkable.
Visiting the Atelier Kiln, we witnessed the intricate process, which added immense value to the porcelain items available.
A Day of Scenic Views and Live Performances
As we continued our journey, we were treated to breathtaking sunset views and a stunning Bian lian performance at Nagasaki station. This ancient Chinese face-changing art left us all speechless!
