One Day in Nashville: Ultimate 24-Hour Itinerary

A few months ago, we discovered that British Airways was launching a new direct route from London to Nashville in Tennessee. This revelation, coupled with our exhilarating road trip across America, ignited our desire to delve into more of the Southern US.

Typically, planning takes time, but my fascination with Tennessee prompted immediate action. It is not only renowned for Jack Daniels, from its iconic spring, but also as a hub for Country music, Rock and Roll, and delicious Southern cuisine, making a visit here irresistible.

Weeks later, we boarded our flight, excited for our journey to Nashville, Tennessee! (I must mention I had a brief encounter with Bear Grylls at the airport – such a fun coincidence!).

Experience Southern Hospitality

Southern hospitality is indeed a reality! Upon arrival in Nashville, the immigration staff welcomed us warmly, a pleasant surprise compared to my previous encounters at customs. The agent eagerly shared recommendations on local dining, especially the famous ‘hot chicken’ and must-try barbeque.

Intrigued, we immediately set out to sample some authentic hot chicken. Our destination was Hattie B’s, highly recommended by locals on Instagram.

The Hattie B’s location in the city center often sees long queues, so we opted for the quieter spot just outside downtown, making our meal much quicker and more enjoyable.

The famed hot chicken truly lives up to its reputation. I can handle most spicy dishes, but this was on another level. With options ranging from mild to “Shut the cluck up!” (the hottest), I decided to go for the maximum heat. Despite a runny nose and fiery tongue, the flavor was delightful enough that we returned for more during our stay!

With the rest of the day ahead of us, we ventured into Nashville in search of barbeque and coffee. However, our plan quickly morphed into an exploration of the city’s vibrant murals, which offer a fantastic opportunity to discover less-trodden areas.
