Clase Azul Launches First Hospitality Concept in Cabo: Exclusive Preview

Luxury tequila brand Clase Azul is moving into the hospitality and travel space with the opening of Clase Azul Los Cabos, which will comprise three restaurants, a bar, and a shopping boutique.

Next month, tequila brand Clase Azul will open a multi-restaurant concept in San José del Cabo, Mexico.

Clase Azul first waded into the Cabo dining scene last year, launching A Taste of Culture, an immersive experience that takes visitors through the brand’s rich tequila-making story alongside exquisite food pairings, music, video, and sensory elements including light shows. A Taste of Culture, drawing inspiration from renowned dining establishments like Copenhagen’s Noma and Chicago’s Michelin three-starred Alinea, is tucked behind an upscale shopping boutique where collectors scout rare Clase Azul bottles. The boutique resembles a luxury connoisseur shop, catering to those in search of artistic, limited-edition bottles, many priced at over $1,000.

On Oct. 3, with the addition of a six-seat omakase bar, a fine-dining restaurant offering Baja Californian fare, and an elegant cocktail lounge, Clase Azul will debut its first fully fledged hospitality concept. The 25-year-old, Guadalajara-based brand recently rebranded to highlight its expansion into hospitality and travel. “We want to create spaces where our brand comes to life,” said Arturo Lomeli, founder of Clase Azul México.

Why Los Cabos? Brand experience director Hector Gaytan explained that it has been a “priority brand destination” for quite some time. “Among the renowned offerings of the region is the gastronomy, which inspired us to create a unique and memorable dining experience that integrates local foods and flavors into our menu,” he elaborated.

La Terraza will be the main restaurant, emphasizing locally sourced ingredients and traditional Baja flavors. Expect delicious seafood, ceviches, octopus, tamales, fresh vegetables like corn, quelites, and ayocote beans, and of course, an abundance of garlic and local herbs,” Gaytan added. A Taste of Culture and Clase Azul Omakase will offer more intimate experiences, with the former accommodating only eight guests per seating and the latter featuring just six bar seats. All three culinary experiences will be overseen by Clase Azul’s in-house chef, Iván Arias, who plans to incorporate Mexican flavors into the omakase bar’s 14-course menu.

Clase Azul El Bar will emphasize mixology, presenting an unexpected twist from a brand that usually encourages its patrons to savor tequila and mezcal straight. However, skilled mixologists will create cocktails that highlight rare tequilas and mezcals, blending them with seasonal Baja ingredients. While this may not be the ideal spot for those who prefer to steer clear of tequila and mezcal, El Bar will also provide local wine and beer options.
