The theme park will close Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and Alice in Wonderland, a Disneyland spokesperson confirmed to GoTravelDaily. The rides will all shut on June 5, and guests are encouraged to “check back for updates.” It isn’t immediately clear when they will reopen.

These attractions are located in Fantasyland, which forms part of the original Disneyland Park and features other classic rides, such as It’s a Small World and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Peter Pan’s Flight and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride are actually among the park’s original opening day rides from 1955 that still operate today, making them significant parts of Disneyland’s history.

Moreover, these rides have undergone renovations to enhance the guest experience. For instance, the original façade on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride was updated to include Toad Hall in 1983, demonstrating Disney’s commitment to keeping attractions fresh and engaging.

The Alice in Wonderland ride was first introduced in the park in 1958. It too underwent renovations, replacing the original painted cut-outs with 3D characters in 1984 and incorporating new lighting and special effects in 2014.

It remains unclear what changes the refurbishments will entail, but Disney frequently updates its rides to keep them relevant and appealing to guests. Furthermore, The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure is also expected to close for refurbishments on June 5, which is located in Disney’s California Adventure Park.

Disney routinely closes rides for maintenance and updates, similar to the current situation with Matterhorn Bobsleds, which is temporarily shut and scheduled to reopen at the beginning of June.

Furthermore, Disneyland is set to close Splash Mountain on May 31 to undergo a complete transformation into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Importantly, this transformation mirrors a similar ride closure at Walt Disney World in Florida that occurred in January. The revamped ride is expected to open in Disneyland in late 2024.
