Summary
Disclaimer: This trip to Calico was another impromptu stop on the trip (albeit a rather nice one)!
On the drive to Hollywood after 3 days in Las Vegas (which was so much fun but more of that in another post soon), my friends and I figured we might as well break up the journey with a stop somewhere.
Things appeared to lack excitement, then one of our friends discovered information about Calico Ghost Town on Google, leading us to decide to stop there.
For those unfamiliar, ghost towns are not inhabited by ghosts but are remnants of once-bustling communities.
This led us to think it might be a deserted shell of what once existed.
After a 30-minute exploration of shops, I noticed a shiny, new appearance in this ghost town that seemed a touch too polished.
Through research, I discovered that Calico Ghost Town has been restored to resemble its historical grandeur.
While some aspects of the town appeared more ‘Western,’ it was indeed a genuine mining community.
The visit to Calico Ghost Town may not be the most thrilling experience, but it’s enjoyable, particularly with friends who can turn any adventure into a memorable journey.
Despite nursing slight hangovers, we didn’t hesitate in having fun.
Unexpectedly, this became a celebrity meeting spot.
Right before leaving, I spotted Ed Westwick, known as Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl, arriving with friends.
It’s intriguing how a fascination with the Wild West can attract celebrities, making for an unexpected encounter.
I approached him nervously and managed a quick photo before rejoining my friends, eager to continue our journey to Hollywood.
Overall, this stop was an unexpected yet pleasant diversion on our road trip!
