Summary
Delicious Southern Food in Nashville
The next morning in Nashville, we decided to skip breakfast at the hotel and headed off somewhere that many had recommended for authentic Southern food.
That place was Loveless Café, and boy was I excited for it. (I’m always excited for anything food-related, so it’s no surprise!).
Upon arriving at Loveless Café, we were met with a queue. After checking in and receiving a beeper for our table, we took the opportunity to wander around the grounds. I couldn’t resist exploring the gift shop, where I found enormous mugs and bacon peanut brittle, which I’m enjoying as I write this!
Breakfast turned into brunch, which provided the perfect excuse to indulge in the generous portions served! Everything here is about big helpings. Starting with freshly baked, warm biscuits, we truly dived into a Southern platter.
Exploring Cheekwood Estate
After a satisfying meal, we set off to explore the stunning Cheekwood Estate. The gardens and sculptures are sprawling, so ensure you leave ample time to explore everything.
I was particularly drawn to the main house. Grand old houses fascinate me, and I enjoyed learning about the history behind Cheekwood, which was a family residence until the 1950s, after which it became a museum.
Visiting Belle Meade Plantation
Next, we headed to the Belle Meade Plantation, which is quite famous in Nashville. The plantation has a deep history, notably in thoroughbred horse breeding.
The plantation’s tours highlight the intriguing yet somber history of its origins, where enslaved people were part of the legacy. It is indeed a reflective space to visit.
The Parthenon at Centennial Park
Leaving the plantation, we made a quick stop at the Parthenon at Centennial Park. It is an impressive full-scale replica of the Parthenon in Athens, Greece.
Nashville’s Nightlife and CMA Festival
As night fell, we returned to the city center to join in on the excitement of the CMA Festival, which was vibrant and full of energy. It was perfect for ending our busy day!
Unfortunately, our dinner turned out to be a bit underwhelming. We had been too absorbed in the festival to make concrete plans, leading to a rather average meal. However, the cocktails saved the day and provided a delightful pause before we immersed ourselves back into the festival festivities.
Tomorrow, we’ll venture to Memphis, Tennessee, another iconic city in the region. For now, let’s celebrate!
