The best resorts in Indonesia, according to GoTravelDaily readers, offer lush natural settings and luxurious accommodations with a deep sense of place.

With more than 1,300 ethnicities represented, over 700 languages spoken, and a multitude of religions practiced, Indonesia is one of the most culturally rich travel destinations in Asia. Additionally, it is an archipelago of over 17,500 islands, featuring tropical Indian Ocean beaches, verdant mountains, and some of the globe’s most biodiverse rain forests. The finest resorts in Indonesia, as selected by GoTravelDaily readers, harness all of these incredible natural wonders.

Each year, for our World’s Best Awards survey, GoTravelDaily asks readers to share their experiences on global travel experiences—including top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Hotels, including safari lodges, were rated based on their facilities, location, service, food, and overall value.

Most of the resorts on this year’s list are situated on a much smaller island that plays a crucial role for most travelers, Bali. Tourism constitutes 80 percent of Bali’s economy, claiming four of this year’s top five properties, including the Alila Villas Uluwatu (No. 4), an ultramodern complex perched on the island’s southern tip. Readers of GoTravelDaily lauded the Alila’s immaculate service and expansive cliff-top views.

Readers voiced enthusiastic praise for this resort located in the heart of Bali. “Truly transcendental,” shared one survey participant. “Off-the-charts amazing,” noted another. The resort features twenty-two Bill Bensley-designed “tents,” plus a two-bedroom lodge, all surrounded by lush forested hills. Fine dining and ranger-led excursions are easily accessible, and custom treatments utilizing Balinese wellness traditions are a highlight during guests’ stay. One GoTravelDaily reader summarized perfectly: “there’s nothing quite like this in the world.”
