Morning Exploration in Kyushu
The following morning in Kyushu, we got up bright and early, greeted by the sight of the Japanese countryside as we meandered through on the Seven Stars.
Even as we got ready for breakfast, we knew we’d miss this train once we eventually got off it in Fukuoka. It was just everything we’d hoped it would be and more.
Delicious Japanese Breakfast
Breakfast was another all-out Japanese affair! It included flying fish soup, assorted vegetables, clam and fried millet soup, and blue crab meat with egg yolk on rice.
Exploring Bungo Mori
Our guide took us to the now-abandoned roundhouse in Bungo Mori, which still bore bullet holes from the war, along with a recently renovated train. It was a fascinating experience that blended history with beauty.
Yufuin Adventures
Our next stop was Yufuin, a picturesque town famous for its natural hot springs, beautiful lake, and a towering mountain overlooking the town.
While we were there, we enjoyed some souvenir shopping and switched from looking for gifts to trying the famous roll cake that Yufuin is known for.
Evening in Yatsushiro
After our adventures, we decided to stay at Hinagu Onsen Kinparou for a night in a traditional Ryokan.
We enjoyed a lavish dinner that featured a variety of traditional dishes, showcasing the rich flavors of the region.
With that, we retired to the onsen to relax our already relaxed muscles before making our way to bed.
As we reflect on the experiences within Kyushu, it becomes evident that the Seven Stars train ride, coupled with the beautiful landscapes and wondrous foods, makes for an unforgettable journey, urging travelers to explore Japan outside the usual tourist paths.
