Where To Stay In Belitung
Pantai Tanjung Tinggi Beach
Pantai Tanjung Tinggi Beach offers a stunning blend of white sand, smooth granite boulders, and crystal-clear turquoise water. Nestled within a small bay, the calm waters make it an ideal spot for swimming and exploration.
Adventurous visitors will enjoy exploring the boulders, some of which have banyan trees with intricate root systems. Notably, one massive boulder is referred to as Papaya Rock.
However, it’s important to note that some litter can be found around the beach area. Consequently, if local efforts can improve cleanliness, this beach has the potential to become world-class.
Pantai Laskar Pelangi
Pantai Tanjung Tinggi served as one of the filming locations for the Indonesian film Laskar Pelangi in 2008, which significantly boosted tourism in the area. The beach is fondly nicknamed Pantai Laskar Pelangi or “Rainbow Troop Beach” due to its cinematic fame.
A sign at the beach entrance provides details about its appearance in the movie.
Sunset At Pantai Tanjung Tinggi
This beach is particularly famous for its breathtaking sunsets. Visitors can witness the sun setting behind the boulders, creating a stunning mirror-like reflection on the water, making it a photographer’s dream during the golden hour.
The experience is truly unforgettable!
Entrance Fees
As of 2024, visiting Pantai Tanjung Tinggi is free; however, a small parking fee is applicable.
How To Get There
Pantai Tanjung Tinggi is conveniently located on the northwest corner of Belitung island, approximately 40 minutes from Tanjung Pandan city.
The most effective way to reach the beach is to rent a scooter or hire a private car with a driver. For rentals, you can check with Billitone Capture.
Belitung Private Driver & Motorbike Rental
For those interested in exploring Belitung in comfort, consider hiring a private driver. I recommend Billitone Capture (+62 853-1555-5288). Their one-day tour for 1-5 passengers costs approximately 400k Rupiah ($26 USD), which is inclusive of the driver, the vehicle, and fuel. Note that longer trips may incur additional fees.
If you prefer a more adventurous approach, they also offer scooter rentals starting at 75k Rupiah (~$5) in Tanjung Pandan city.
