South Iceland Waterfalls
1. Seljalandsfoss Waterfall
Located 120 kilometers (75 miles) from Reykjavik, Seljalandsfoss is one of the first waterfalls to encounter while driving south along the Ring Road. Known for its stunning views, you can even walk behind the 60 meter (200 foot) cascade, but waterproof clothing is recommended.
2. Gljufrabui Waterfall
Don’t miss Gljufrabui, a hidden waterfall just a 5-minute walk from Seljalandsfoss, featuring a 40 meter (130 foot) drop within a cavern. Caution is advised due to significant mist.
3. Skogafoss Waterfall
Skogafoss is an iconic sight, with a height of 60 meters and width of 25 meters, making it truly spectacular. Be prepared to see rainbows on sunny days due to the mist. It is about 150 kilometers (90 miles) from Reykjavik.
4. Kvernufoss Waterfall
Located near Skogafoss, Kvernufoss is a lesser-known 30 meter (100 foot) waterfall accessed via a scenic hike through a canyon. This hike is worth it for its stunning views.
5. Svartifoss Waterfall
Famous for its unique black lava basalt columns, Svartifoss requires a moderate hike of approximately 1.5 kilometers (1 mile). This geological wonder stands 20 meters tall and is located in Vatnajokull National Park.

6. Hengifoss Waterfall
