Explore Top Milwaukee Brewery Tours

Milwaukee was once known as the “beer capital of the world.” Although the big names that made Milwaukee famous are now mostly a thing of the past, there are still some fantastic brews being produced in the city today. Take these brewery tours to discover the vibrant brewing scene for yourself!

Lakefront Brewery Tours

Touring the Lakefront Brewery is almost a rite of passage for many locals, with a significant number of repeat visitors. The experience begins and ends with tastings in the Brewery Palm Garden, featuring more tastings as you explore the converted riverfront industrial property. Guests will view the brewing operations, bottling area, and an homage to “Laverne and Shirley.” Importantly, after early tours (before 4 p.m.), participants receive a ticket for a complimentary beer at one of several local taverns.

Miller Brewery Tours

The Miller Tour offers a one-hour indoor/outdoor guided walking tour of Miller Valley, which has an extensive brewing history of over 155 years. The tour highlights the origins of Frederick Miller, who established the brewery in 1855, and provides insights into how such a large-scale operation runs its day-to-day activities. A standout feature of the tour is the Miller Caves, which lie 60 feet underground, originally created in 1849 to keep beer cool before distribution. After the tour, visitors may enjoy three complimentary beer samples (for those aged 21 and older). Soft drinks are available for guests under 21 or upon request.

Milwaukee Brewing Company Tours

This brewery tour is a fresh take on Milwaukee’s brewing scene, differing greatly from the Miller experience. Many are familiar with the Milwaukee Ale House on Water Street, but not everyone knows about the brewery tour about a mile south in Walker’s Point that supplies the Ale House’s beer. This engaging tour features an abundance of samples, including both year-round and seasonal offerings.

Expect passionate and down-to-earth guides, ample beer tastings, a complimentary pint glass, and the opportunity to learn about the Milwaukee Brewing Company’s commitment to sustainable brewing practices.

Sprecher Brewery Tours

The Sprecher tour in Glendale is another favorite among beer enthusiasts. Being an early entrant into the craft brewing scene, Sprecher has been producing quality brews since 1985. The tour begins at the gift shop and takes visitors through the aging cellar, bottling line, warehouse, and into the brewhouse itself. Tours conclude with tastings of four different beers (with a selection of up to 20 beers on tap), unlimited soda, and a commemorative glass to take home.
