Ultimate Guide to Kerrisdale Village, Vancouver BC

Kerrisdale Village—a shopping and dining district that extends along 41st Avenue from Maple to Larch in Vancouver’s southwest Kerrisdale neighborhood—has been a thriving business area since the early 1900s. Today, Kerrisdale Village is home to a mix of older, locally-owned shops and newer boutiques, as well as charming cafés, eateries, and organic markets. The area is ideal for shopping for kids, gifts, and specialty foods.

How to Get There

Kerrisdale Village spans 41st Avenue from Maple Street to Larch Street. It’s a 10-minute drive west from Oakridge Mall. If you’re driving, it’s easy to find (metered) street parking close to the shops.

If you don’t have a car, you can take Canada Line rapid transit to Oakridge Station, then transfer to a bus heading west on 41st Ave.

Where to Shop

While Downtown Vancouver or Gastown are known as fashionable cities, Kerrisdale Village certainly doesn’t disappoint when it comes to clothing. This area caters to customers looking for everything from classic northwest fashion to trendier items. Hills of Kerrisdale, a clothing shop that’s been established since 1914, is one of the area’s most popular retail destinations. The shop stocks high-quality bags, jewelry, and everyday wear for men and women; it’s a must-visit for its historical significance as well.

Shoe-enthusiasts will also find fashionable shoe shops at Kerrisdale Village. However, overall, this isn’t considered a destination for serious fashionistas.

Kids Stores

The Kerrisdale neighborhood is very family-oriented, so it’s no surprise that Kerrisdale Village offers a plethora of shops dedicated to children. From toy stores to kids’ clothing, shoppers will find plenty of great options here. If you have kids under 12, it’s certainly worth a visit, especially for the unique and locally-owned kid boutiques.

Here are a few stand-outs:

  • Blake & Riley – children’s clothing and accessories
  • Isola Bella Design – baby and children’s fashion
  • Jacadi – boys and girls fashion
  • Gap Kids – boys and girls fashion

Food, Cafes, and Organic Markets

Kerrisdale Village is abundant with charming coffee shops and cafes, including favorites like Bean Brothers Cafe and Adonia Teahouse, where you can enjoy an authentic English high tea. Additionally, there are lovely bakeries and specialty food shops such as Benton Brothers Fine Cheese, Vancouver-favorite Cobs Bread, and Gem Chocolates, which is renowned as one of the best chocolatiers and boutique chocolate shops in the city.

For grocery shopping, be sure to check out Westwood Organic Produce.

Unique Shops and Gift Shops

First-time visitors to Kerrisdale Village must stop in at Buchan’s Kerrisdale Stationery, a gift shop with a long-standing history of over 55 years. Charming and full of interesting items, Buchan’s is particularly delightful during the winter holidays, when its historic exterior is decorated for the Christmas season.

Other unique shops for gifts include Hagar Books (established in 1974), Vancouver’s only Call the Kettle Black culinary shop, and custom jewelry from The Perfect Gift.
