We have spent many a day in Niagara Falls, Canada. Living just one hour from the natural wonder, we pop over for weekends, overnight getaways, and even day trips. If you’re planning just a one-day trip to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side, you’re in for an unforgettable adventure. This one-day Niagara Falls itinerary will guide you through the best attractions and activities, ensuring you make the most of your time.

One Day in Niagara Falls Canada

Before visiting the waterfalls, purchase the Adventure Pass Classic, which you can purchase online through Niagara Parks and pick up at any Niagara attraction. You will also need to secure a place on the Hornblower separately ahead of time. The Canadian side is an exciting part of the Niagara Falls area to explore with the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, Niagara Gorge, and plenty of activities along the Niagara River to enjoy.

Getting around Niagara Falls is very easy. Once you reach the city, you will want to pick up your Adventure Pass, which includes unlimited rides on WeGo Transportation.

Morning – Experience The Falls

Many people wonder if it is possible to visit Niagara Falls in one day. We are here to tell you that with a little planning and by following our one-day itinerary, you can see the best of Niagara in a short 24 hours. So, are you ready for an unforgettable experience? Let’s check out the highlights of Niagara in one day.

1. Journey Behind the Falls

Begin your day by picking up your Adventure Pass Classic at Journey Behind the Falls. This attraction can get very busy with long lines, especially during the summer months, so we suggest heading here first to maximize your time and minimize waiting.

This incredible experience takes you 125 feet under the falls to explore tunnels over 130 years old that lead to portals directly behind the thundering Horseshoe Falls. It is fascinating to walk beneath this marvel of engineering. You will walk through history, see who has visited the falls, and learn how these tunnels were constructed.

Once you have walked behind the roaring waterfalls, you will find a spectacular outdoor observation deck where you can stand beside the plunging waters and feel the thunderous vibration of the Horseshoe Falls cascade.

Practical Information:

  • Opening Hours: 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Duration: 45 minutes to 1 hour
  • Location: Table Rock Centre, 6650 Niagara Parkway, Niagara Falls, ON

2. Table Rock Viewpoint

While you are at the Table Rock Center, don’t miss making your way out to the top of the waterfalls for the best viewpoint directly above the cascading waters of the Niagara River. You get to see the Canadian Horseshoe Falls from above while standing right at the river’s edge, witnessing the highest flow above the Niagara Power Station.

This is a breathtaking view of Niagara Falls that allows you to truly understand just how much water flows over this natural wonder. If you have more time, you will want to visit the Niagara Parks Power Station, but we recommend touring this historic site when you have additional time in the city. This is an incredible walk through history to learn how harnessed the energy of the waterfalls. However, it does require at least 90 minutes, so keep that in mind.

  • Opening Hours: All hours
  • Duration: 30 minutes
  • Location: Table Rock Centre, 6650 Niagara Parkway, Niagara Falls, ON

3. WeGo Bus to The Hornblower

Next, hop on the WeGo Bus located just outside the entrance of the Table Rock Center. The WeGo Bus is included in your Adventure Pass, making it easy to get to your next stop, Hornblower Niagara Cruises. You’ll find this bus incredibly convenient, as it provides unlimited access for two days on a regular time schedule.

Interestingly, you can ride it all the way out to the Floral Clock and Butterfly Museum while exploring Niagara Parks via the WeGo Bus. However, since you only have one day, be strategic about how long you want to remain on the bus.

4. The Hornblower Niagara City Cruises

No trip to Niagara would be complete without hopping on a boat to the center of the falls. Don’t miss securing your Hornblower tour in advance, ideally for 11:30 a.m. If you arrive early, rest assured there are plenty of views of the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls to keep you entertained.

The Hornblower Cruise is a must-do activity providing a thrilling ride as close to the magnificent falls as you can get. This legendary boat tour takes you directly into the mist of the Horseshoe Falls, and ponchos are provided as you’re sure to get wet. Alternatively, you can remain inside if you prefer to stay dry. We never tire of the excitement of getting up close to the thundering falls.

Practical Information:

  • Opening Hours: 8:30 AM – 8:30 PM
  • Duration: 20 minutes
  • Location: 5920 Niagara Parkway, Niagara Falls, ON

5. Lunch at Hard Rock Cafe or Rainforest Cafe

Now it’s time to refuel! Hop on the WeGo Bus to Clifton Hill, or simply walk from Hornblower—it’s not a far journey. This vibrant area is ideal for lunch, providing numerous dining options from the Rainforest Cafe to Kelseys, and everything in between, including fast food and pizzerias. Our personal favorite is the Hard Rock Cafe located at Casino Niagara, where you can also explore the casino.

Afternoon – Fun and Excitement

6. Clifton Hill

After lunch, immerse yourself in Clifton Hill, known as the “Street of Fun.” If you want to spend the entire afternoon here, grab a Clifton Hill Pass to enjoy many of its top attractions, including glow-in-the-dark mini golf and 4D amusement park rides. This area is especially engaging for families, with arcade games, a mirror maze, mini-golf, and wax museums.

We absolutely love Clifton Hill, and with the pass, it is valid for a year, so if you miss any attractions, you can always come back later without a worry!

  • Opening Hours: All Day and Night
  • Duration: 1 – 2 hours depending on attractions

7. Niagara Skywheel

One of the highlights of Clifton Hill is undoubtedly the Sky Wheel. However, keep in mind that this time of day can be quite busy; nevertheless, you can ride it until 2 a.m., so don’t hesitate to come back later if you need to. The ride is well worth it, as the wheel rotates three times, offering stunning views of both the US and Canadian sides of Niagara Falls.

This attraction is included in a Clifton Hill Pass and can also be used for an entire year; therefore, if you decide to return just for the Sky Wheel, you can enjoy a variety of attractions at your leisure.

Practical Information:

  • SkyWheel Hours: 10:00 AM – 2:00 AM
  • Duration: 8-12 minutes

8. White Water Walk

After soaking up the atmosphere at Clifton Hill, hop back on the WeGo Bus to the White Water Walk. This unique attraction allows you to stroll along a boardwalk right at the edge of Class 6 white-water rapids, which are the largest standing waves in North America and simply awe-inspiring.

Visitors descend 70 meters (229 feet) down an elevator into the Niagara Gorge, where they can walk a 400-meter (about a quarter-mile) boardwalk. The sheer power and beauty of the rapids here are truly captivating!

Practical Information:

  • Opening Hours: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Duration: 30 minutes to 1 hour
  • Location: 4330 River Road, Niagara Falls, ON

Late Afternoon: Return to the Falls

Your one day in Niagara Falls is designed to immerse you in views of the Falls, the star attraction. The WeGo Bus will take you along the parkway back to Table Rock, but we recommend getting off at the Hornblower Stop to enjoy a scenic waterfront walk.

This pleasant stroll back to Table Rock takes about 20 minutes, providing various viewpoints of The American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls. You’ll also pass the zip line, which is another thrilling attraction.

9. Table Rock and Niagara’s Fury

Head back towards the falls at Table Rock. If time allows, consider visiting Niagara’s Fury, a 4D experience that illustrates the creation of the falls. We recommend visiting Niagara’s Fury later in the day due to typically long wait times. This attraction is included in your Niagara Adventure Pass; however, be prepared for a 30-minute multimedia experience, which may involve waiting as long as 90 minutes.

As crowds tend to thin out later in the day, we suggest waiting for the final showing to experience the captivating history of Niagara Falls. Although it’s not essential to view this film, if you don’t have to wait in line for too long, it’s a worthwhile experience.

Practical Information:

  • Niagara’s Fury Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Duration: 30 minutes
  • Location: Table Rock Centre, 6650 Niagara Parkway, Niagara Falls, ON

10. Ride the Funicular to Fallsview

After enjoying Niagara’s Fury, you’ll be in the perfect spot to catch the Falls Incline Railway (funicular) to the Fallsview area. This quick ride swiftly connects you from the Niagara area to the Fallsview Entertainment zone, where your evening adventures await as you soak in some of the best views of Niagara Falls.

Practical Information:

  • Operating Hours: 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM
  • Duration: 5 minutes
  • Location: 7001 Portage Road, Niagara Falls, ON

Evening: Relax and Enjoy the View

Fallsview is a wonderful area to explore, and it’s our top choice for accommodations when we visit Niagara Falls. Securing a room with a fallsview room provides stunning perspectives of both the Canadian and American sides. Fallsview boasts the best nightlife in the city and offers incredible views from numerous restaurants, viewing spots, and hotel rooms facing the falls.

11. Dinner at Fallsview

In Fallsview, dinner with a view is a must. We recommend dining at The Keg Steakhouse, which is undoubtedly the best choice for impressive Niagara Falls views. The Keg is located at the Marriott Fallsview Hotel, our all-time favorite place to stay in Niagara Falls. Alternatively, consider dining at the Skylon Tower, enhancing your experience with a unique setting; just remember to make a reservation, as it’s quite popular!

12. Nightly Entertainment

Niagara Falls offers a plethora of activities at night. The Fallsview Casino is an exciting venue to try your luck on the slots, while the Fallsview Theater features world-class entertainment. During the summer months, enjoy a nightly fireworks display illuminating the falls, along with live music and vibrant bars throughout the Fallsview area.

The illuminated falls present a spectacular sight and offer the perfect way to conclude your adventurous day. One of the prime locations to witness the fireworks is from Queen Victoria Park.

Practical Information:

  • Falls Illumination Hours: Dusk to Midnight
  • Location: Fallsview Boulevard, Niagara Falls, ON
