Top Disney World Rides for Expecting Moms

What to Ride When You’re Expecting

As long as you are in good health, there is no reason to avoid heading to Disney World while pregnant. You may not be able to enjoy every ride in the park, but there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained.

If you’re traveling with a group, use the time when others ride to grab a snack or take a quick break. Knowing beforehand which rides to avoid can save you walking time and minimize disappointment.

Choosing the Right Rides

Any ride that is safe for a toddler or preschooler is likely safe for you as well. Most rides without height restrictions are suitable for healthy pregnant women; however, safety does not always guarantee comfort. If you are in the later stages of pregnancy, some rides may be more challenging to access.

When you arrive, pick up a park map and take note of rides that have height restrictions. While you won’t be zipping around on Splash Mountain, rides such as the Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise will still provide you with plenty of Disney fun.

Tip: If you wait in line and then decide against a ride, ask the cast member at the loading area for the nearest exit.

Rides to Avoid During Pregnancy

Any ride that subjects passengers to high speeds, abrupt bumps, or steep drops should be avoided during pregnancy. Certain rides may appear gentle but can result in sudden stops or unexpected drops.

For example, the Tomorrowland Speedway may look like a low-speed, gentle ride, but the presence of child drivers can lead to collisions, making it a ride to skip. It is advisable to avoid rides with the term “mountain” in their names, as well as any labeled as thrilling, high-speed, or plunging.

Disney World Water Parks and Pregnancy

While the major water coasters and slides are off-limits for pregnant guests, you can still enjoy the Disney World water parks. Both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach feature swimming areas suitable for expectant mothers.

Typhoon Lagoon’s lazy river is a relaxing spot to rest and cool off on warm days, although it’s wise to avoid the wave pools; while the waves themselves are harmless, the human projectiles riding them might pose a risk.

Approach Shark Reef in Typhoon Lagoon with caution if you have never tried it. However, for those who wish to take the plunge, the extra buoyancy of the saltwater can be incredibly soothing, particularly during the later months of pregnancy.
