Frequently Asked Questions

What will the facility be like? If you have observed the construction, you may have noticed its impressive size, and the city has also released a virtual tour video. Essentially, the facility will feature two long whitewater channels that empty into a spacious bottom pool. Two buildings located at the west end will serve as equipment storage, a restaurant/bar, and a pro shop. Additionally, a bridge and seating areas will provide spaces for spectators.

Will Olympic athletes train here? Yes, indeed. The Boathouse District already serves as the headquarters for the USA Canoe and Kayak Federation and functions as a U.S. Olympic training center. This facility will provide an additional resource for those athletes in training. Importantly, there are only a handful of comparable centers across the United States, including the Adventure Sports Center International in Maryland and US National Whitewater in North Carolina.

But what about beginners and non-experts? You need not worry. The facility is designed not just for elite athletes but also as an adventure attraction for everyone. With two channels—one for recreational purposes and the other for competition—there is a much lower flow channel suitable for all skill levels, making it perfect for families and children as young as 8 years old.

What kind of activities are available? Visitors can engage in a variety of activities, including kayaking, canoeing, and rafting. Alternatively, individuals can opt for paddleboarding and relax in the expansive surf pool.

How much will it cost? The Whitewater facility is part of the existing RIVERSPORT Adventure attractions. An All-Access day pass is available for $49, which allows you to experience the rapids along with zip lining, a ropes course, kids’ activities, and more. For those looking for extended access, an All-Access season pass is priced at $179, with additional family pricing options available. For further inquiries, you can contact RIVERSPORT Adventures at (405) 552-4040.
