Summary of Delightful Pictures of Southern Sweden
Southern Sweden, known as Skåne, is a beautiful region to visit during spring and summer. Although many tourists often focus on major cities like Stockholm and Gothenburg, there are numerous hidden gems to discover. I have compiled my favorite pictures from my recent road trip in this lovely southern part of my home country.
I’m originally from Helsingborg, and a couple of weeks ago, my girlfriend and I took a road trip. We explored various castles, enjoyed the countryside, and visited my hometown along with Ystad and Lund. There are many castles in Skåne, and the region boasts some of the best beaches in Sweden.

25 Delightful Pictures of Sweden
Here are some of my favorite pictures from our road trip in the south of Sweden.
Helsingborg is my beautiful hometown with a rich history. This well-preserved fortress defended against Danish invaders, and from the top, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the city.
Another captivating location is “Pålsjö Skog,” a lovely forest featuring historical buildings and charming paths.
We even have our own cherry blossom trees. Although they may not rival those in Japan, they provide great opportunities for beautiful photographs.
Old houses and fine architecture are abundant in Helsingborg, as shown in the photo below taken in Vikingsberg.
Castles You Must Visit
Southern Sweden is home to a variety of castles from different periods, showcasing unique shapes and sizes. Some of the most notable include Trolleholm, Marsvinsholm, Trollenäs, Kronovall, Malmöhus, and Christinehof.
We visited Marsvinsholm, a castle just a short drive from Ystad, revealing its charming architecture.
A magical picnic at the inner yard of Trolleholm felt like stepping into a fairytale.
Walking casually in traditional Swedish attire at Trollenäs Castle added a unique cultural touch to our trip.
The charming university town of Lund, located between Helsingborg and Malmö, features a beautiful dome church and quaint streets.
The Picturesque City of Ystad
Ystad is arguably one of Sweden’s most picturesque cities, full of color and charm.
However, it deserves far more visitors than it currently receives. My grandmother lives there, and every time I return to Sweden, we discover new photo spots!
Appreciating the Swedish Countryside
The stunning canola fields are breathtaking. If you visit Southern Sweden in May, be sure to venture beyond the towns to experience the endless fields of gold!
Did we find paradise in Sweden? While it’s not the Maldives or the Caribbean, Sandhammaren offers one of the best beaches in Sweden, complete with powder-white sand, turquoise waters, and tranquility.
As you might expect, Southern Sweden features incredible landscapes alongside numerous working farms.
Sweden is renowned for its forests, and Skåne is no exception. I always relish time spent in nature. This particular photo was taken in Stenshuvud National Park.
Simrishamn, another charming town located in Österlen, is a favorite summer destination among Swedes, particularly those from Stockholm.
While driving through Southern Sweden, you may encounter windmills that once played essential roles in the region. This windmill still has its wings, making it a perfect photo opportunity.
Finishing up with Ystad
Here are more photos from Ystad. Streets like these are almost everywhere, showcasing adorable and timeless architecture.
