The Macuco Jetboat safari guarantees an exhilarating time on rushing water. After an adventurous buggy ride through the jungle and a scenic hike, you’ll board a powerful twin-engine jet boat on the calm Iguassu River.

This thrilling adventure will take you into the heart of Devil’s Throat, navigating rapids and driving right beneath the mighty falls on the Argentinian side of the border. Upon experiencing the deluge, you will emerge with a giant grin, having braved one of the world’s largest waterfalls!

2. Hike, Bike, and Paddle

Kayaking the Iguassu River

While this jungle adventure does not showcase the waterfalls, the Banieras Jungle safari is among the most enjoyable activities in Iguassu Falls. Commencing with a 10 km bike ride into the depths of Iguassu Rainforest, this leisurely trek ensures you can proceed at your own pace, as it is not a race.

Cycling the Iguassu Rainforest

Once you’ve journeyed away from civilization, you’ll exchange bikes for hiking along raised platforms that weave through the lush jungle. The trail includes boardwalks, suspension bridges, and lookout points, making it an excellent option for both beginners and seasoned hikers.

The adventure culminates with a jet boat ride along the Iguassu River, with the added option to kayak back to the dock. Consequently, it provides a unique thrill as you navigate a stretch of rushing whitewater.

3. Parque das Aves

Iguassu Rainforest is rich in exotic birds, yet spotting them can be challenging. The Iguassu Bird Park allows you to see endemic Brazilian species as well as some from across the globe. Many of the birds in this park are rescues from wildlife smugglers or other unfortunate situations.

The birds are not returned to the wild; instead, they live peacefully in large aviaries where visitors can walk through, marveling at the colorful macaws and toucans flying overhead.

4. Marco Das Américas

This relatively recent addition to Iguassu Falls attractions is the historic meeting point of Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil, often referred to as the golden triangle. Visitors on the viewing platform can witness where the Iguassu and Paraná rivers converge, marking the three-country junction.

5. Cultural Show

At Rafrain Churrascaria restaurant, indulge in traditional Brazilian cuisine like Brazilian Barbeque while enjoying captivating performances that celebrate the history and culture of South America. Featuring vibrant music and talented dancers, this experience is both entertaining and educational.

One highlight was a captivating performer who spun solid balls at rapid speeds around his head, along with impressive capoeira dancers, showcasing remarkable athleticism.

6. Itaipu Dam Tour

Itaipu Dam Iguassu Falls Power

Once the largest dam project in the world, now second only to China’s Three Gorges, the Itaipu Dam is an engineering marvel. This two-hour tour takes you through the facility, illustrating how the water of the Iguassu River is harnessed for energy, benefiting Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil.

With a hard hat on, you will explore deep into the facility, observing the power station that generates energy from the surging water.

7. Itaipu Lake Sunset Tour

Surprisingly, a grand Chinese Temple exists in Iguassu, featuring stunning Chinese architecture and folklore. The yard is lined with large Buddha statues overseen by impressive guardians. The Catwalk of Iguassu Falls

The best way to explore Iguassu Falls is by spending at least one night at the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas located within the park. Although it’s on the pricier side, it’s the only accommodation inside the National Park, granting you exclusive access to the trails along the falls during sunrise and sunset.

12. Iguazu Falls From Restaurant Footpath

An ideal viewing point exists at the main restaurant, offering perspectives of the falls from above. Additionally, you can take an elevator or footpath down to the catwalk for closer views. Allow ample time for a hike, as Iguassu Falls stretches over 2.5 km, and there are walking trails along the gorge exhibiting all the beautiful waterfalls dotting the canyon.

13. Eat at a Brazilian Barbeque

While Rafrain Churrascaria provides an engaging atmosphere, other establishments may offer better cuisine. For an authentic Brazilian grill experience, consider dining at Palazzo Grill or Buffalo Bronco Steakhouse.

A Brazilian Barbeque feast commences with a lavish spread of salads, pasta, meats, cheeses, and even sushi before the main platter arrives. Be wary not to overindulge at the buffet, as waitstaff will continue to present endless cuts of prime meats at your table. Don’t forget to try the deep-fried cheese balls; they’re a must-try!

14. Helicopter Tour Over Iguazu Falls

Though the helicopter tour offers a unique perspective of the falls, it’s not the best experience we’ve had. Since this company holds a monopoly on the market, the service may lack quality, and seating can greatly affect the views you’ll get.

Belmond Hotel Cataratas in the Centre of the Park

Our flight lasted only 10 minutes, without a safety briefing or insights on what we should expect to see. Fortunately, I was positioned at the front next to the pilot, enjoying the best panoramic views of the falls, unlike other passengers who struggled to catch a clear glimpse.

Where to Stay in Iguazu Falls

If the Belmond Hotel Cataratas exceeds your budget, consider staying at Recanto Cataratas Thermas Resort, a family-friendly hotel near town featuring thermal pools, dining options, and a gym. They also organize tours and excursions to Iguassu Falls.
