The Munduk Waterfalls

The Munduk Waterfall, also referred to as the Red Coral Waterfall, is situated in an open clearing without any trees nearby. Consequently, the ideal lighting for photography occurs on overcast days. Conversely, during sunny days, the contrast can make taking quality pictures challenging.

The short and easy hike to the waterfall is only a 10-minute walk from the parking area, and you will likely find fewer tourists here.

While the waterfall may appear small in some photographs, it actually boasts considerable height. Therefore, check out the drone image below for a better sense of scale!

Entrance Fee

The entrance fee is 20k Rupiah (approximately $1 USD); however, during our visit, no one was collecting the fee.

Munduk Waterfall Hike

You can experience the Munduk Waterfall as part of a comprehensive hike that includes four distinct waterfalls:

  • Golden Valley Waterfall
  • Munduk Waterfall (aka Red Coral Waterfall)
  • Labuhan Kebo Waterfall
  • Laangan Waterfall (aka Melanting Waterfall)

The hike can commence at Golden Valley and conclude at Laangan, or vice versa. Therefore, be prepared to invest a few hours if you plan to hike to all four waterfalls!

How To Get There

Munduk Waterfall is nestled in north Bali, Indonesia. It takes approximately a two-hour drive from Ubud, or less than an hour from Singaraja.

The optimal way to reach this destination is by renting a scooter or hiring a private car and driver, both of which can be arranged online.

Keep in mind that the parking area is located on the edge of a steep bend in the road, having limited space for vehicles. There’s room for only one or two vans and a few additional vehicles.

Bali Private Driver & Motorbike Rental

For those wishing to explore Bali conveniently and safely, hiring a private car with an English-speaking driver is highly recommended. One of the best options available is through GetYourGuide.

Their prices commence at roughly 700k Rupiah (~$48 USD) for a full day of service (up to 10 hours) for 1-5 passengers. This cost encompasses everything: car, driver, and petrol. Additionally, they provide affordable hotel transfers from the airport.

If you prefer mobility on two wheels, they also offer motorbike rentals. Their scooter rentals start at 140k Rupiah (~$9), encompassing a helmet, raincoat, and free delivery in the southern Bali area.

We have utilized GetYourGuide for multiple tours and activities around the globe; their services have always been exceptional. Therefore, they come highly recommended.
