Summary
Today marked our final full day in Tignes, and we intended to maximize every moment. As we drew the chalet curtains, an outstanding weather greeted us! The sky was pristine, with a gentle breeze, and the slopes appeared exceptionally alluring.
After a substantial breakfast consisting of eggs, a selection of meats, and ample English tea, we ventured out to meet our SkiBro instructor, David.
One of the primary objectives for today was to have David assist us in traversing the mountains towards Val-d’Isère. This was my first experience with cross-resort skiing, and anticipation was high!
Today exceeded yesterday in magnificence! The slopes felt relatively uncrowded, a preference of mine, as busy slopes tend to agitate me and provoke unnecessary anxiety.
Fortunately, the day remained quite serene, and having the privilege of some runs almost exclusively to ourselves felt exceptionally special.
Following our runs (with a few tumbles, naturally), our appetites had significantly increased.
As David guided us towards Val-d’Isère, we opted to pause at Le Panoramic, a restaurant renowned for its exceptional offerings.
Situated at an altitude of 3032 meters atop the Grande Motte glacier, Le Panoramic offered a warm retreat from the wintery elements outside. I initially believed we had reached our maximum altitude, but we accessed this location via the Funicular from the slopes.
Upon arrival, the cloud coverage began to thicken, and the chill in the air intensified. This, alongside our overwhelming hunger, prompted us to hurry inside the restaurant.
As we entered, I understood immediately what the excitement centered around. The ambiance was welcoming, a refuge from a day of skiing, and the aroma of the food was tantalizing.
We shed our ski boots, donned restaurant slippers, and proceeded to locate our table.
In an effort to resist ordering one of everything from the menu, we selected their famed grilled meats.
Their mashed potatoes were heavenly, striking the ideal balance between creaminess and buttery richness.
Honestly, I could have consumed an entire bowl by myself.
When dessert was served – doughnuts, plum wine, and lychee jelly – we were comfortably overindulged for the second time that day!
The overall experience was delightful, infusing each moment with joy, laughter, and a multitude of culinary delights.
Ultimately, our adventure in Tignes was a whirlwind of happiness and gastronomy, leaving us with lasting memories and the longing to return soon.
