2025 Travel Predictions from GoTravelDaily Writers: First Trips to Take

As with almost everyone else, travel writers had to stay put through 2020. However, that hasn’t stopped their desire to explore in 2021. We asked some contributors to share their travel plans for the year ahead.

In early March, while enjoying cocktails at a hotel in Siem Reap, my fellow travelers joked about potentially getting stuck due to the emerging coronavirus. Fortunately, we returned home to Australia just in time.

Staying in Australia for the rest of the year has made me appreciate local travel, despite longing to venture beyond Australia’s borders when safe. My travel aspirations include taking an adventure cruise to Antarctica and exploring the Pacific Islands. Moreover, I plan to be more conscious of my carbon footprint and how I contribute to local economies.

This year has been unusual for travel, but I have enjoyed time in my adopted home, British Columbia, and the low-risk Caribbean, including Cuba and Jamaica.

In 2021, my plans are two-fold: to visit family in the UK and rekindle our trip to India that was canceled in 2020.

2020 kept me close to home in the Cambrian Mountains of Wales. Initially, I envisioned adventurous travels after the birth of my daughter but the pandemic changed those plans.

In 2021, I aim to start small, introducing my daughter to snow—perhaps on a mountaintop in the Swiss Alps.

As we move into a new year, I find myself yearning for familiar places and experiences. The limitations of the past year have made me appreciate the opportunity to be elsewhere even more.

In 2021, I hope to visit my hometown of Dublin and explore Japan, where I crave the experience of immersing myself in new cultures.

This year has reminded me of the importance of life and the need to travel thoughtfully. I look forward to traveling again in 2021, exploring destinations that ignite my passion for adventure.

Next year marks my 5th wedding anniversary, and I dream of celebrating in the beautiful Bora Bora.

Conclusion

As the world begins to open up, travel writers share their hopes and aspirations for the upcoming year. From sustainable travel practices to profound experiences in unique destinations, the adventure awaits in 2021.
