In April 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross the United States, enveloping parts of the country into an eerie midday darkness. To witness this phenomenal occurrence, you must be situated in the eclipse’s path of totality. The totality will cross 13 U.S. states: Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, and Maine.

Established by pioneers in the 1840s, Sulphur Springs was originally named Bright Star. The name changed in 1871 to emphasize its notable natural feature: mineral springs. Unfortunately, these springs have since dried up, but there remains an abundance of activities to enjoy in town.

The total solar eclipse is set to occur on April 8, 2024. In Sulphur Springs, observers can expect the eclipse to begin at 12:25 p.m. CDT and conclude at 3:04 p.m. CDT, with the moment of totality (when the moon completely obscures the sun) taking place from 1:42 p.m. CDT to 1:47 p.m. CDT.
