It’s a place that almost feels mythical until you witness its beauty firsthand—once experienced, it lingers with you, compelling a return for more encounters with its impressive wildlife, such as puffins, or natural phenomena like the Northern Lights.

The diversity of the islands, combined with their fascinating wildlife (including numerous sheep), makes them worthy of a spot on every travel enthusiast’s itinerary.

The Faroe Islands are conveniently located approximately 1.5 hours from Edinburgh, with direct flights available from Atlantic Airways, the official carrier for the islands. Our journey started with a train ride from London to Edinburgh, where we enjoyed a couple of days rekindling friendships and indulging in traditional Scottish cuisine.

Saksun Church is located on the island of Streymoy, roughly a 45-minute drive from the airport and an hour from the capital, Torshavn. The picturesque village, characterized by a few houses and innumerable sheep, surrounds this serene church that seems almost timeless.

A leisurely stroll around the region will unveil the dramatic inlet and captivating scenery surrounding this delightful Faroese church.

2.) Mulafossur Waterfall (Vagar Island)


Located on the same island as the airport, Mulafossur Waterfall is easily accessible by car, typically involving a journey through some mountain tunnels.
